[Solved] Welco pumps on Ebay
I've gotten roped into building a hydroponics system for my brother--I'm personally using Mycodo to build a sonde--and I've been looking for cheaper components for the build. If the cost of pumps is a bite and you're willing to play Ebay roulette, I scored 5 Welco pumps for $100 via Make an offer. Search for Welco Model WPM1 P2BB-GP...there are more for sale.
Welco is the OEM for Atlas Scientific's peristaltic pumps. These WPM pumps have brushed motors -- Atlas's are the higher end brushless model -- and lack Atlas's I2C interface but at that price they're a better bet than Chinese knock-offs. You'll need to run them via Mycodo's generic pump output option and GPIO pins or hook up an I2C to GPIO port expander. Welco rates them at 1500 hours life vs the 5000 hours for the ones that Atlas uses but from everything I've read they have a good reputation.
They should arrive Monday and I'll post impressions then.
Sorry I didn’t follow up, slammed by covid work...no spare time. The pumps are legit Welcos and look exactly like the ones Kyle used, minus the circuit board. Same tool-less disassembly and colored pump hub. These are green. I’ve ordered some cheap dual H bridge circuits with L298N chips and I’ll take a stab at using them to control the pumps. Assuming they work I’ll have five high quality pumps for ~ $110
Great info. Thanks.
